Master Joiner Kitchen Submission 2024

A sophisticated blend of symmetry, function, and personal flair — crafted for entertaining and everyday living.

This architecturally striking kitchen was designed as part of the client’s forever home — a space that needed to deliver on both style and function for the long haul. From day one, the brief was clear: clean lines, clever angles, and a layout that worked just as well for quiet family mornings as it did for big nights of entertaining.

Symmetry and geometry played a starring role in the design, seen in the angled island bench, wall oven unit, and back panel detailing — all created to give the space a modern, fuss-free edge without compromising warmth or personality. One of the standout engineering achievements was the cantilevered breakfast bar, which floats effortlessly thanks to a custom-designed steel frame system that transfers weight directly to the concrete slab below — all with a precise 1mm clearance to protect the porcelain Dekton benchtop.

The opposite end of the island is no less impressive, featuring a compounding angled waterfall return that required precise on-site stone cladding over a carefully constructed MDF base. Across the kitchen, materials were chosen not just for aesthetics but to work harmoniously with the home’s broader palette — like the mirrored stone splashback and Archant mesh feature in the drinks area.

To elevate day-to-day use, the kitchen includes a full suite of organisational features, including in-drawer cutlery trays, a pull-out bottle rack, spice storage, and hidden inner drawers — making it a joy to use, as well as a beauty to look at. The wall oven unit, complete with LED lighting behind the stone splashback, adds a dramatic visual element while maintaining perfect alignment thanks to meticulous planning and collaboration with stone specialists. Bringing in a touch of the clients’ personality, Indonesian-inspired pendant lighting and soft furnishings add warmth and cultural richness to the clean architectural lines, making the space feel personal, curated, and completely their own.

Crafted over a six-month design and manufacturing period, this kitchen is more than just a showpiece — it’s a refined, highly functional space that balances structure and soul.
